About Us

Norman Hay Engineering is the largest specialist manufacturer of surface treatment, fluorescent penetrant inspection and vacuum impregnation process lines in the UK. Created in 2006 by the combination of two Norman Hay Group subsidiaries, the Plasticraft Process Plant Technology Group and Ultraseal Engineering the range of experience and depth of knowledge has been built on over 2000 installed systems worldwide. In 2002 PMD Engineering, Lancy Water Engineering, ERG Process Plant and Ardrox Engineering were acquired to further enhance the range of experience, depth of knowledge and customer base of the Engineering Group.

The strength of the Norman Hay Group underpins the financial, technical and physical resources required for major capital plant projects. Group turnover is in excess of £30 million; more than 300 employees are engaged in strategic supply to the Aerospace, Automotive, Oil and Gas and Construction sectors on a worldwide basis. Currently more than 50% of group revenue is generated overseas and a third of group employees are located in the Asia Pacific region. The diverse customer base over these key industrial sectors is an important factor in the long term stability and security of the group.

We have our headquarters centrally located in the industrial heart of the UK at Godiva Place, Coventry. This is where we carry out steel and plastic fabrication, assembly and test prior to equipment despatch. Godiva Place is home to our Sales, Estimating, Design, Contracts Departments, Spares Department, Service Engineers, Finance and Accounts. In addition to our extensive Coventry facilities we have a specialist plastic fabrication factory located in Walsall, also in the West Midlands. This factory is responsible for production of our plastic tanks, special plastic fabrications, extraction ductwork and fume abatement systems. It is also home to our Procurement Department and Installation Engineers.

Vacuum Impregnation machines are primarily supplied to the Automotive Industry with other specialist applications in aerospace and electrical manufacturing.

Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection Lines are used extensively throughout the Aerospace Sector and also in the production of safety critical components in such fields as motor sport and the rail industry.

Chemical Process Lines are used predominately in Aerospace by both original equipment manufacturers (OEM’s) and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) operations at first tier level and throughout the entire industry supply chain. Typical applications for aero-structures, power plant, component and landing gears include cleaning, etching, chemical machining, anodising, electroplating and related surface treatment activities. They are also used extensively in corrosion protection and functional treatment applications in the oil and gas, power, electrical and precision engineering industries.

Our scope of supply ranges from individual tanks, modifications and upgrades to existing equipment whether originally supplied by ourselves or not, plant relocations, smaller process lines, spares, planned preventative maintenance and service to all equipment regardless of original manufacture, to full turnkey projects on a worldwide basis.
